Title of lesson 2, in chapter 6: THE CORONAVIRUS, A WORLDWIDE PANDEMIC!

1) The coronavirus looks like a crown or the sun's corona; it has spikes. That's why the disease is named after it.

2) The coronavirus is believed to have appeared in a market, in Wuhan, in China, for the first time. Hence (= That's why) the market was shut down and disinfected to stop it from infecting people.

3) Now pay attention even if the disease is disappearing: do not forget to cover your face using a mask when being surrounded by a crowd (= too many people) because this is the way you will prevent yourself from being contaminated or from contaminating others.

C) EN CLASSE DE 3eme VALSE - POUR DIMANCHE 21 JUIN 2020, 16h00 AU PLUS TARD, SVP: RECOPIEZ, DANS VOTRE CAHIER D'ANGLAIS, LA LEÇON CI-DESSOUS, SVP

1) The coronavirus looks like ( = looks similar to) a crown or the sun's corona, due to the spikes all over it. That's why it's called (= it's named) "coronavirus".

 

2) The coronavirus is thought to have appeared in a market, in Wuhan (China); this market (which) medical authorities believe the virus came from was shut down and disinfected.

 

3) To sum up the health crisis, be prudent: wear a mask and gloves while you are in a crowd and you will not spread the virus, and you will not be contaminated ! = Wearing a mask and gloves is useful if you don't want to catch or spread the virus while you're in a crowd.

Title of lesson 1, in chapter 6: FINDING OUT MORE ABOUT CORONAVIRUS

1) Coughing, sneezing and fever are some of the basic symptoms of the recent coronavirus.

2) One has to know that the parts of the body affected / attacked by the coronavirus are the mouth and the nose which compose the respiratory system.

3) Remember then: if you want to prevent infection, wear a mask and wash your hands regularly using (= with) soap or any disinfectant spray.

4) Finally, during human expiratory activities such as talking, laughing, coughing and sneezing, many droplets of saliva and other secretions are expelled from the respiratory tract (the mouth and nose) = Experts believe coronavirus comes from several wild animals like bats or snakes and that it's transmitted by invisible droplets of human saliva in the air when we cough, sneeze or even when we talk = wild animals like snakes and bats are the principal / main / prominent cause of coronavirus which is spread through droplets of human saliva and the air.

Title of lesson 1, in chapter 6: FINDING OUT MORE ABOUT CORONAVIRUS

1) Coughing, sneezing and fever are some symptoms of the new COVID-19.

2) So one has to know that the coronavirus affects the respiratory system at first ; the lungs are attacked.

3) Also to prevent the infection when you go out, you have to wear a mask and wash your hands regularly using soap and water or a disinfectant spray / a hand sanitizer.

4) All in all (= to finish our discussion = finally), experts say that the virus is transmitted through saliva drops and particles when we cough or sneeze; plus objects can be contaminated. So people should be prudent when touching things. Bats, pangolins, snakes are suspected as potential coronavirus hosts.

Et voilà, nous y sommes enfin! Nous débutons le chapitre 6, lequel va nous permettre de clôturer le programme d'anglais de l'année de Troisième! Cette séquence 6 sera particulière, car celle-ci ne se focalisera pas sur une seule thématique générale ou commune: en effet, chaque leçon aura un sujet de communication précis à aborder. 

Découvrons, à présent, ci-dessous, le thème du jour, sous forme d'activités au corrigé intégré; vous réaliserez les petites tâches confiées sur une feuille de brouillon, s'il vous plaît, avant de vérifier vos réponses en vous reportant à la correction disponible sur la page 2 de chaque dossier PDF. Puis, ensemble, lors des prochaines classes virtuelles, nous en dériverons une trace écrite vis-à-vis d'un scénario donné. Ainsi:

1) Social media entitles us to meet new people. XENIA

2) Also social media helps learn many things and connect with others by talking English that is often called "the language of the world" as many people know it. XENIA

3) Plus social media lets us share great moments with our family members and friends, communicating and laughing together. XENIA & KEMI & INÈS

4) I know that social media enables us to share and sign petitions about important political ideas. XENIA & BINTOU

5) Don't forget that social media gives us the possibility to help poor people or people in need (= in difficulty) by putting pressure on big political organisations to take action. XENIA & BINTOU & INÈS

6) I think that thanks to social media, you are able to succeed in fantastic collective projects. HADDAD

7) Let me add that through social media, you are permitted to reveal the problems that people can have in some countries. ANDRÉA

1) First of all, you have to be really careful on social media when you're talking to strangers and be respectful when you're talking to someone. If a stranger is forcing you to do something you don't want to do, then don't do it, and block them if they're being disrespectful to you. Also don't be disrespectful, never bully anyone and don't impersonate people. Think about what you would feel if someone did this to you. DJURA

2) Secondly, think and check before you post! Words and images can be very hurtful, and you might not realize that the information you put on the Internet is visible to many people. XENIA & MAYYA

3) Thirdly, watch the clock and the time you spend on social networking websites: time flies without you could realize it and you might forget and / or miss important things. XENIA

4) Fourthly, teenagers can fall victim of Internet harassment ! They have to pay attention to people who follow them, then. MAYYA

5) Fifthly, adolescents must share appropriate content online and ban insults. MAYYA
